Teaching Practice

4. Teaching Practice

4.1. Procedures of Teaching

The teaching procedure at USHS has a slight difference from the teaching procedure in Indonesia. At USHS, I usually apply 5 stages of teaching, namely, Recall, motivation, application, generalization, and evaluation.

  1. The recall is intended to activate students regarding their understanding of previous learning material.
  2. Motivation is intended so that students are ready to receive the learning material to be taught.
  3. Application is the stage where students receive knowledge given by the teacher.
  4. Generalization is the concentration phase of the material taught to students.
  5. Evaluation is the stage to test students' understanding of the material being taught.

4.2. Time Management and Organizing Activities

For general Biology lessons, each class gets 4 meetings in a meeting, where each meeting is held for 1 hour (60 minutes). because of the limited teaching time in 1 meeting, then one chapter of the lesson was carried out approximately 3-4 times the meeting and ended with giving a small test to all students.

4.3. Problem Solving

There are some small problems when I teach in class one of the problems that I face is that the hours of lessons are too fast which only lasts for 1 hour so that I have to be punctual in completing all the material being taught, as well as the difference in the lesson plan format between Indonesia and the Philippines. first I had to do guidance with my cooperative teacher, Ma'am Ben. but for other things, while learning continues to run smoothly, where students understand the lessons I teach and so do I who understand their answers during a discussion session in learning.
